Accommodation Booking -Terms and Conditions for Selwyn Street Apartment
Please take time to carefully read these terms and conditions. By making this booking, you accept responsibility for any extra charges resulting from the conduct of any persons checking in under your booking.
1. Bookings are for a single room and own ensuite with a minimum one night stay.
2. The accommodation is hostel-style accommodation, in one of our Selwyn Street Apartments , student halls of residence.
3. Rooms are cleaned after check-out; they are not serviced daily.
4. Rooms have single beds only, and the maximum occupancy in each room is one person.
5. We will endeavour to group your rooms together in the same building but do not guarantee that we will be able to do so.
6. We will notify you, and will charge your credit card in full, when we confirm your booking.
7. Cancellation:
7.1. We will refund your booking fees in full if you cancel your entire booking on or before 28th November 2023. For group bookings, the refund will apply to however many rooms within your booking you have cancelled.
7.2. Subject to 7.3 and 8, there will be no refunds for cancellation after 1st December 2023 or for non-arrival.
7.3. Event cancellation: We are opening the accommodation specifically for a particular event. If that event is cancelled for any reason you may cancel your booking, in which case we will refund your booking:
(i) in full if you cancel prior to check-in time; or
(ii) ) for one night if you cancel after check-in time.
We also reserve the right to cancel the booking at any time up to 24 hours prior to check-in time if the event is cancelled for any reason, and if we do that we will provide a full refund. We reserve the right to deduct a booking fee of 10% or $30 for each room from any refunds made under this clause.
8. For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in clause 7 or elsewhere in this agreement is intended to limit your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
9. Bookings are not transferable.
10. All guests must comply with the House Rules. We reserve the right to require any guest to leave, without a refund, for a breach of House Rules.
11. As the person making the booking, you accept responsibility for:
(a) our direct and reasonable costs to repair any damage (beyond normal wear and tear) caused by anyone checking into or using the rooms you have booked;
(b) our costs of any fire-service call-out due to tampering with the fire alarms by any person checking in under your booking; and
(c) our costs of cleaning to remove any smoke smells from rooms you have booked.
Without limiting any other rights we may have to recover from you, you authorise us to charge these costs (up to a maximum of $500) to the credit card you used to make the booking. We will notify you first and allow you time to dispute the charge.
12. We may contact you at the email address or phone number you have provided when booking.
13. You agree that all information you have provided to us is correct.
14. You are responsible for the safety of all monies and other property including vehicles, and valuables that you bring onto our campus.
15. Where the information you provide to us is personal information, we will treat it in accordance with the Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1993. We will store it securely, use it only for purposes related to your booking and communication with you, and not disclose it to any other person unless we are obliged, or authorised, to do so by law or such disclosure is reasonably necessary for us to perform our obligations to you or recover any monies owed under this Agreement. We may use non-identifying information for other (e.g. statistical) purposes related to our business. Under the Privacy Act, you are entitled to request and correct personal information we hold about you, and you can do this by contacting the University's Privacy Officer, University of Waikato, Private Bag 3105, Waikato Mail Centre, Hamilton 3240.
16. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
