ACLAR 2024 Accessibility statement
Our aim is to make the conference spaces for ACLAR 2024 as accessible as possible.
Here are some notes about specific venues:
The briefing for the formal welcome (pōwhiri) which will be held at 10.15am Wednesday 27 November in TL2.26 (gate 4 Hillcrest Rd). There is a dedicated accessibility parking space in Gate 4. Please let us know if we need to reserve this for you for accessibility purposes. The room (TL2.26) is wheelchair -accessible, and there is seating at entry level.
It’s about 200 metres from TL2.26 to the next venue (the wharenui)- with a slight rise.
The wharenui (Ko te Tangata) at the Pā complex where we will begin the conference with a formal pōwhiri (welcome) is fully accessible, as is the space where we will eat after the pōwhiri and on the last day of the conference (Saturday 30 November).
After the first keynote speaker we will return to TL2.26 . The rest of the conference will happen between this room, TL2.19 (about 10 metres away on the same level), and TC1.31 (about 20 metres away, down a short slope. Our volunteers will help with doors.
Morning teas, afternoon teas and lunches (except for opening and closing meals) will be served outside TC1.31 (about 20 metres from TL2.26)
There will be a car available for transport between the Pā and TL2.26 on the first and last days of the conference. Please let us know if you would like to use this service (Julie.barbour@waikato.ac.nz).
There is a wheelchair accessible toilet available on the same level as TC1.31 and the eating area.
