The Professor Joseph Sambrook PhD student or Post-doctoral Fellow Award
In recognition of Professor Joe Sambrook’s major contribution to breast cancer research in Australia, one prize of $5000 will be awarded at the meeting to either a PhD student or Post-doctoral fellow that is to be used for travel, registration and accommodation at a cancer meeting of their choice within 12 months of the FAC2022 meeting. All submitted abstracts from eligible candidates will be reviewed by Professor Mary-Jane Gething who will nominate the winning abstract.
Terms and Conditions:
i. Candidates must be a PhD student or a post-doctoral fellow (no more than 3 years after the award of their PhD or specialist medical degree)
ii. Candidates must currently be working on breast and/or ovarian cancer in an Australian research institute or university. The scope of their work may also include prostate cancer as this cancer frequently occurs in multi-case breast cancer families.
iii. In advance of the kConFab/FCC national meeting, candidates must submit an abstract online of a research study by the due date stipulated by the FAC organising committee.
iv. Each abstract must be accompanied by a brief description by their mentor of the role the candidate played in this study and a short curriculum vitae (no more than one page). You should send the mentor description and the CV directly to Heather Thorne.
v. All candidates are expected to register and present their study at the meeting, either as an oral or poster presentation.
vi. The successful candidate will be announced at the kConFab/FCC meeting by an NBCF representative.
vii. On submission of travel, meeting and conference documents to the kConFab management, a tax invoice from the winners work institution will be requested and the Aus$5000 will be paid.

Instructions for Authors
1. Authors of research papers who wish to have their abstracts considered for inclusion in the scientific programs must submit their abstract online having regard to the closing dates Thursday 14th July 2022. Abstracts submitted after the closing date will not be considered.
2. The detailed formatting instructions below must be followed for the abstract to appear in the program book.
3. The acceptance, timing, presentation and discussion of all abstracts is at the discretion of the Organising Committee. Notification of the timing of oral presentations will appear in correspondence sent to all successful authors.
4. PRESENTING AUTHORS MUST BE FULLY REGISTERED FOR THE MEETING BY 31st July 2022 FOR THEIR ABSTRACT TO APPEAR IN THE PUBLICATIONS.

Your abstract will be reviewed after the closing date of 5.00pm AEST - 14th July. Notification of the outcome shall be via email so please ensure your email address is entered correctly when submitting.
