We are pleased to announce that our Aotearoa Trans Health Symposium invited international speaker, Dr Ruth Pearce, will present a talk on the day before the Symposium. This event will be open to the public and Dr Pearce will speak about "Gender Experts”: Clinical Discourse and Becoming Trans.
This event will be held on Friday 3rd May from 12-1pm, at room K.G.09 (K Block, ground floor) at the University of Waikato Hamilton Campus.
Dr Ruth Pearce is a Research Fellow in the School of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Leeds. Her research explores issues of inequality, marginalisation, power and political struggle from a trans feminist perspective. Ruth’s work is characterised by an interest in forging links between academia, activism, and practice within the healthcare professions, public sector and community sector.
