Brooke Marsters is a junior doctor who has been living with type 1 diabetes since she was 14 years old. She has a keen interest in paediatrics and endocrinology, alongside Māori and Pasifika health. Brooke currently works at Waikato Hospital and alongside her job as a junior doctor, has continued to pursue her interest in research. She aspires to combine clinical practice, research and own experiences to improve the quality of life for patients and their whānau, especially for Māori and Pasifika.

Dr Christian Brett is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Te Whatu Ora –Waitaha Canterbury, Educational Supervisor for the Medical Council of New Zealand, a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago Medical School, an ANZCA Examiner, and also founder of SimpleCPD learning record.

Professor David O’Neal attained a medical degree in 1985 at the University of Melbourne. He has been a specialist in endocrinology since 1991. He is a Professor with The University of Melbourne and holds the position of Senior Endocrinologist with the Dept. of Endocrinology at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Endocrinologist and General Physician at Werribee Mercy Hospital and is currently serving as Deputy Director of the Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations (ACADI)
He is the Director and founder of the Diabetes Technology Research Group (D.T.R.G) based at the University of Melbourne, Department of Medicine at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne.
He has led multiple studies in novel diabetes technology and closed loop insulin delivery with significant national and international collaborations involving clinicians, academics and industry.
He has had a long‐term research interest relating to the development of technology related to glycaemic control and the interface of patients with diabetes and technology.

Professor Jeremy Krebs is an Endocrinologist with a particular interest in obesity and diabetes. He trained in Endocrinology at Wellington Hospital in New Zealand and then did his doctorate with the Medical Research Council - Human Nutrition Research unit in Cambridge England. His thesis was on the impact of dietary factors on obesity and insulin resistance. Prof Krebs returned to New Zealand in 2002 where he is an Endocrinologist at Capital and Coast Health and Professor with the University of Otago. He previously set up and directed the Clinical Research Diploma at Victoria University. As well as clinical and teaching activities, Prof Krebs maintains active research interests in the area of obesity and diabetes, with a focus on nutritional aspects, bariatric surgery and diabetes service delivery.
 

Markerita Poutasi is the National Director, Pacific Health, at Health New Zealand, leading system changes and serving as the Senior Responsible Officer for Diabetes across the health and disability system. She has a strong focus on transforming health structures to reflect Te Tiriti principles of action and equity. Before her current role, Markerita was the Chief of Strategy at Te Toka Tumai in Auckland, where she led the Performance Improvement team and implemented new equity approaches in care delivery. Markerita has a background in law and Pacific development and previously worked as the Director of Pacific Health for the Northern Region Health Coordination Centre.  Markerita also served as the CEO of the Pacific Cooperation Foundation. She is a specialist in change leadership, promoting Pacific health equity, and developing new care models with communities.

Associate Professor Samantha Hocking is an Endocrinologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and a Clinical Academic at the University of Sydney. She is the current president of the National Association of Clinical Obesity Services.

A/Prof Hocking graduated from Sydney University with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 1999. In 2005 she became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (Endocrinology) and completed a Masters degree in Medicine (Clinical Epidemiology). In 2011 she completed her PhD studies at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research which investigated the metabolic differences between visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissue depots, and how accumulation of the former is related to insulin resistance. A/Prof Hocking was a Staff Specialist in Endocrinology at Royal North Shore Hospital from 2009 – 2017 before returning to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney in 2017.

A/Prof Hocking’s research interests are focused on the metabolic complications of obesity. In addition, she treats patients with obesity in one of the largest public obesity clinics in NSW.
