THE NUTCRACKER, AUSTRALIAN BALLET
https://australianballet.com.au/the-ballets/the-nutcracker
There's nothing like a traditional Nutcracker to get you in the mood for the festive season. And there's no traditional Nutcracker as magical as Peter Wright's.
The artistic director of Birmingham Royal Ballet has created a gold-standard production of this beloved party piece, remaining faithful to the feel of the 19th-century original. Tchaikovsky's last great score for ballet, with its lively motifs and bewitching melodies, draws us into the story of Clara, a young ballet student celebrating with her family on Christmas Eve. When the clock strikes twelve, we enter the realm of dream ... and Clara is whisked to the Land of Sweets in the arms of her Nutcracker Prince.
Veteran designer John F Macfarlane exquisitely evokes the world of this picture-perfect ballet: whirling snowflakes, crackling fires, band-box soldiers, a Christmas tree that grows until it brushes the ceiling and a Sugar Plum Fairy in luscious candy-floss pink.
With the holidays around the corner, there's no better way than The Nutcracker to rediscover the childlike joys of the season, or to create your own family tradition.
EXPLORE HAHNDORF
http://hahndorfsa.org.au/#
https://www.australia.com/en/places/adelaide-and-surrounds/locals-guide-to-hahndorf.html
Head to the Adelaide Hills, and the heritage town of Hahndorf, for local produce, cool climate wines and a unique combination of German and Australian history.
In the Adelaide Hills, Hahndorf is a place of rustic tranquillity, complete with artisan produce, local wines, and a vivid history. It's one of the prettiest towns in Australia, and the oldest German settlement, thanks to Prussian pioneers who arrived here from 1839. Many buildings are half-timbered German-style stone or brick constructions with steeply pitched roofs, and Australian bullnose verandahs and iron lace.
TRAILHOPPER
http://trailhopper.com.au
TrailHopper offers Adelaide's only hop on, hop off wine tour service departing from the CBD and showcasing 3 of South Australia's finest wine regions - the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, and Hahndorf & Adelaide Hills.
Our philosophy is simple: we aim to make it easy, fun, safe and affordable to visit SA's outstanding regional destinations. Our tours from Adelaide offer all of the flexibility and enjoyment of driving yourself, without the risks of drink driving or the compromise of having a designated driver.
In a nutshell: Our comfortable bus collects from a convenient Adelaide CBD location in the morning (the Stamford Plaza Hotel), then once in the region we follow a recurring timetable circuit that takes 50-60 minutes to complete, in which time we visit all 10-15 of the selected venues. We follow this same timetable each and every hour until it's time to return to the city in the late afternoon (approx 5pm).
Along the way you are free to hop on or off at any of the established stops, so that in a full day tour you are likely to see up to 4 wineries of your choosing, at your own pace, and independently from the other groups on the bus. This is how you tour your way.
