Louise Alexander is an Associate Professor in Mental Health Nursing at Deakin University and has been working in academia for over a decade. Louise's clinical background is in forensic mental health and her research interests include workforce sustainability, stigma and the use of simulation in mental health nursing education. Louise has published her findings in several high impact journals, and she is also a core author of a first-edition mental health nursing textbook used in Australia and New Zealand

Julia has been a nurse for almost twenty years and has practiced in America and Australia, working in trauma, forensics and general nursing.  She has a Master of Mental Health Nursing and a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner).

Julia joined Epworth as a nurse unit manager in our acute mental health inpatient unit and during this time led a number of quality improvement projects, including medication management, risk and suicide management and eating disorders.

Since taking on the inaugural role as stream leader of Epworth Clinic’s Consultant Liaison Psychiatry service, Julia has provided specialist clinical mental health assessment, management and support to Epworth acute hospitals.

Julia’s role works alongside acute physicians, nurses and allied health to provide assessments and management of patients with co-morbid psychiatric illness or symptoms. Her approach to mental health care is patient-centred and recovery-focused, ensuring each person is treated with dignity and respect.

Bianca Fedele is the Clinical Research Manager of the Epworth Monash Rehabilitation Medicine (EMReM) Research Unit. She has an Adjunct Lecturer appointment at Monash University. She is currently completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree (part-time) at Monash University which is investigating early-onset sleep disturbance following traumatic brain injury. Ms Fedele has significant research experience and has managed various studies investigating outcomes after traumatic brain injury, concussion and stroke.

Marcus is a Respiratory and Sleep Disorders physician with expertise in the management of sleep disorders such as sleep apnoea. He also has a strong interest in the diagnosis and management of disorders of excessive daytime sleepiness including narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia. He also has an interest in the assessment and management of parasomnias and sleep related movement disorders. Marcus is based at Epworth Richmond and he admits patients to the sleep labs at both Epworth Richmond and and Epworth Camberwell. Marcus is heavily involved in medical education, particularly of physician trainees, with a Masters degree in Medical Education. He is a member of the Australasian Sleep Association and represents the ASA on several committees. Marcus completed his medical degree at the University of Melbourne before being granted his fellowship in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Marcus completed his Masters degree in Medical Education through Monash University.

Dr Rose Acher is a Consultant Physician in Rehabilitation Medicine at Epworth HealthCare, specialising in neurological rehabilitation. Dr Acher has been a practising Rehabilitation Physician for more than 20 years, after graduating from Monash University and being awarded a Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (FAFRM). At Epworth HealthCare, Dr Acher is a Consultant in Epworth’s Spasticity Management Clinic, treating patients with a variety of neurological disorders using botulinum toxin injection. She has also been a Consultant in the Rehabilitation Concussion Clinic (since 2016), providing assessment and treatment of persistent post-concussive symptoms. 

Dr Acher has been a researcher within the Epworth Monash Rehabilitation Medicine Unit (EMReM) since 2009, the designated research arm of Epworth Rehabilitation. Dr Acher has led a clinical research project evaluating the prescription of medication in traumatic brain injury (TBI), reviewing practice with evidence-based guidelines and is an Associate Investigator of research projects investigating the treatment of concussion and spasticity. Dr Acher is also involved in a longitudinal follow-up study of patients post TBI. She conducts patient-interviews up to 10 years post injury regarding the medical, physical and psychosocial effects of TBI and she has published in this area. Dr Acher’s main research interests includes the management of spasticity and concussion.

Dr Janethri Seneviratne Epa is a rehabilitation physician working in neurological rehabilitation with a special interest in rehabilitation of patients with Functional Neurological Disorders. She has been the rehabilitation physician attached to the Epworth Functional Neurological Disorders Outpatient Rehabilitation Program since its commencement three years ago.

Dr Toby Winton-Brown is a consultation-liaison and neuropsychiatrist at the Alfred Hospital, and Research Fellow at Monash Neuroscience, where he works in the Epilepsy, Movement Disorders and Transplant teams. He trained in medicine and philosophy at UNSW, Psychiatry at the Maudsley in London followed by PhD at the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London, and a Neuropsychiatry and Neuroimaging fellowship at RMH. His interests in disorders at the intersection of brain and mind, neuropsychiatry and psychotherapy came together in the formation of The Alfred Functional Seizures clinic in 2019, and most recently the Epworth Functional Neurological Disorders clinic.

Dr Robin Hunter is a rehabilitation physician with a special interest in musculoskeletal medicine. She has particular experience in geriatric medicine and Department of Veterans' Affairs medico legal assessments.

Robin's professional associations include the Australasian College of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Australasian and New Zealand Society of Geriatric Medicine.  She is the Director of the Epworth Rehabilitation, Mental Health and Chronic Pain Institute.
