Dr. Ketan Badani is Professor of Urology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Vice Chairman of Urology and Robotic Operations at the Mount Sinai Health System, Director of the Comprehensive Kidney Cancer Center and Reconstructive Urology at Mount Sinai Health System and Chief, Surgical Innovation and Strategy – Mount Sinai West and Morningside Hospitals.

Dr. Badani is known as a world leader in the research and treatment of urologic oncology.  With a focus on prostate and kidney cancer, he has led teams and published techniques for minimally invasive robotic kidney cancer surgery.  His technique for a partial nephrectomy, F.A.S.T (First Assistant Sparing Technique) has been published and taught around the world to help patients with renal tumors. 

Dr. Badani has the largest combined experience in robotic kidney and prostate cancer surgery in the New York area.  Having performed over 9,000 robotic procedures in his career, he is in the top 1% of urologist worldwide.  His clinical expertise covers both surgical and non-surgical approaches to treatment of urologic cancers. 

As a visiting Professor, Dr. Badani has given numerous lectures, and performed numerous live surgeries in over 20 countries. Dr. Badani also led the prostate and kidney cancer research program at Columbia University Medical Center for seven years prior to leading the Mount Sinai team. 

Mr Philip Dundee is a specialist urological surgeon with expertise in robot-assisted urologic surgery. He has a special interest in prostate cancer, bladder cancer and kidney cancer.

Phil has established himself as a high volume robotic specialist and has performed over 1600 robot-assisted and laparoscopic surgeries since returning to Melbourne at the end of 2012 after fellowship training in London. He has pioneered a number of robotic surgeries in Melbourne, including radical cystectomy with intra-corporeal diversion, Retzius sparing radical prostatectomy and buccal mucosa ureteral reconstruction.

Dr Renu Eapen is the Director of the Urology Clinical Institute at Epworth HealthCare and a consultant urologist in the Genitourinary Oncology service at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Austin Hospital.

Dr Eapen completed her urology training in 2014. She undertook her robotics and uro-oncology fellowship at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Prior to this, she completed a fellowship in urodynamics, incontinence, voiding dysfunction and pelvic reconstruction at the University of Toronto.

She has completed her PhD at the University of Melbourne in high risk prostate cancer in collaboration with the Prostate Cancer Theranostics and Imaging Centre of Excellence at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Dr Eapen is the recipient of the 2022 Michael and Lori Milken Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) Young Investigator Award.

Dr Sandra Elmer is a consultant urologist in Melbourne with a special interest in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, functional urology, urodynamics and general urology. Dr Elmer completed a 12-month fellowship at the Austin Hospital specialising in open and laparoscopic surgery and post-fellowship training in Functional Urology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, specialising in neurourology, urodynamics, transition urology and female urology. Dr Elmer has a special interest in treating male incontinence and erectile dysfunction. She has also pursued overseas training with the world's top female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgeons at the New York University Medical Centre, and completed robotic surgical training at the ORSI in Belgium. She is the current Female Urology Special Advisory Group Deputy Chair, of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Professor Nathan Lawrentschuk is a urologist and urologic-oncologist. He is Director of Urology at The Royal Melbourne Hospital Department of Urology and founding Director of the EJ Whitten Prostate Cancer Research Centre at Epworth Hospital as well as being a urologic oncologist in the Division of Cancer Surgery at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Nathan’s chief research and clinical interests are in the biology and clinical management of urologic tumours. He has published 500 peer-reviewed articles, eighteen book chapters and is frequently invited to speak nationally and internationally. He has served as the Vice-Chairman of the World Urologic Oncology Federation and is a member of the Société Internationale d'Urologie (SIU) Young Innovators Committee. He co-founded the Bladder Cancer Australia Charity Foundation and serves on several national cancer and tumour professional and patient groups including the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

Associate Professor Daniel Moon is a urologist who performs more robotic surgical cases per year than any other surgeon in Victoria.  He has particular expertise in laparoscopic and robotic surgery, the management of prostate cancer and the aftermath of its treatment.   He is an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Melbourne and was involved in the establishment of Australian Medical Robotic Academy (AMRA) dedicated to training current and future robotic surgeons in Australia and abroad  (click for ABC interview August 2018).  He has performed over 2000 major laparoscopic +/- robotic procedures, published the first Australian series of laparoscopic radical prostatectomy in 2008 and performed the first Australian robotic cysto-prostatectomy in 2009.  From 2012-2017 he was Director of robotic surgery at Epworth healthcare, established a robotic partial nephrectomy program at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, and published the first Australian series of this procedure in 2015 then the largest Australian partial nephrectomy series in 2018. He convened the biennial National Kidney and Bladder Cancer Symposium and held Australia’s first robotic prostatectomy surgical masterclass in 2011, followed by the first robotic partial nephrectomy masterclass in 2012. In 2013 he authored the largest Australian series of Artificial Urinary Sphincter insertion for male incontinence and in 2018 published the longest Australian follow-up for men undergoing urethral sling surgery, followed by the largest Australian series of penile implant surgery for treatment of erectile dysfunction.
 

Professor Declan Murphy is Consultant Urologist, Director of Genitourinary (GU) Oncology, and Director of Robotic Surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

He is Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne.

Declan is a founding director of Cancer Specialists, a large group practice at Epworth HealthCare. He has a strong academic background and has published extensively in GU oncology, prostate cancer in particular.

Declan is Associate Editor for Digital Media at European Urology, the world’s highest ranked Urology journal, and hosts the European Urology Podcast which he launched in 2023. He also co-hosts GU Cast, the top ranked Urology podcast which he co-founded with Dr Renu Eapen in 2020.

Benjamin Thomas is a consultant urological surgeon with subspecialty interests in urological oncology and robotic surgery. In addition to his oncology work, he manages patients with general urological conditions including kidney stones, lower urinary tract symptoms, benign prostatic enlargement and infertility. He has an appointment at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is a senior research fellow and lecturer at the University of Melbourne. He completed fellowships at Cambridge University Hospitals and the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm and has postgraduate research and management degrees and qualifications from the University of Cambridge and Harvard University. He was a substantive consultant urologist at Cambridge University Hospitals where he was Chair of the Urological Cancer Multidisciplinary Team and Lead for Robotic Surgery.

Dr Raymond Tong is a urologist based at Epworth Hospital and is an executive member for the Epworth Urology Clinical Institute.

Dr. Tong is also a urologist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.  

He has special interests in robotic prostate and renal surgery.
